Elocon (Mometasone)
INDICATIONS
Elocon Cream is used for treating itching, redness, and swelling of many skin conditions. Elocon Cream is a topical corticosteroid. It works by reducing inflammatory reactions and modifying immune reactions in the body.
INSTRUCTIONS
Use Elocon Cream as directed by your doctor.
- Apply a small amount of Elocon Cream to the affected area once a day. Gently rub the medicine in until it is evenly distributed. Wash your hands after applying Elocon Cream, unless your hands are part of the treated area.
- If you miss a dose of Elocon Cream, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.
Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Elocon Cream.
STORAGE
Store Elocon Cream between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Elocon Cream out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Precautions
Keep Elocon out of your eyes. Longterm use and local application may cause a reversible suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system. If irritation occurs, discontinue to use Elocon cream and inform your doctor to get appropriate treatment.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of Elocon.
Possible side effect
Rare adverse effects may occur: burning, itching, skin atrophy, acne rosacea. In general glucocorticosteroids (GCS) may cause appearance of different conditions: irritation and dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acne like rash, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), secondary infection, striae and miliaria (sweat rash). The likelihood of these adverse effects increases with the use of airtight dressings.
